Enamel Pins for Writers, Introverts, and Mississippians
Sometimes I'm too afraid to say things out loud, so I put them on pins.
To get back to my graphic design roots, I designed two collections of enamel pins, and I sell them on Etsy.
The first collection taps into my introvert nature and penchant for writing. I've been told that some of my pins have an attitude, which is great. There are a lot of things I want to say out loud, but I'm too scared to. These pins do that for me.
I later designed a Mississippi pin collection. I was inspired to do this because I had just moved back to Mississippi, my home state. I also added pin designs specific to my hometown Greenwood.
Behind the Mississippi pins are childhood memories and meanings. You can learn about these design inspirations on my Susie Hustle collections page.
This project blessed me with some fulfilling experiences. I learned about the materials used in enamel pins, the limitations of pin art, and the manufacturing process. It was daunting at first, but after a lot of research I came out with another tool in my belt.
